The Impact Investing Agenda for IB/IGB Investments
Accredited companies are prioritised for financing. A dedicated fund has been discussed so that impact investors can take the early risk.
The initiative mobilises financing for IB/IGB in cooperation with the impact investing industry. An IB/IGB finance committee has been established. A concept for a 25 million dollar Risk Reduction and Social Innovation Fund has been discussed. The fund would co-invest with impact investors in pilot IB/IGB deals, and so reduce the investors’ risk before they scale a transaction up. In the pilot it would support up to 50 deals. The later scale-up, through impact investors, is expected to mobilise an additional 120 million dollars.
Impact investors named among the institutional champions include IIGh, IFC, CiGaba Fund, GAIN, GVCA, Injaro Capital, IP, Karuma, LEAP, Mastercard Foundation, Mirepa Capital, Oasis Capital, Risa Fund, UNCDF, VCTF, Yaro, Wangara Capital and Zinari. Two impact-investing networks also sit in the oversight arrangements.
Accredited companies have access to the investment incentives and are prioritised in financing support. The fund concept, and the offer to provide more detail on request, is set out under Financing Risk Reduction and Social Innovation.
