Support Programs

The IB/IGB Strategy & Action Plan

The first feature of the program is a public commitment, shared by business, government and development partners.

In November 2024 AGI, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industries, and GIZ signed a memorandum of agreement to establish the strategic program. The program was re-endorsed by the new government in March 2025.

The IB/IGB initiative is private sector led, government owned, multi-stakeholder implemented, and development partner supported. It is guided by a strategy and by strategic commitments for cooperation.

The strategy has ten program features:

  1. High-level strategic commitment and partnerships.
  2. A dedicated institutional setup.
  3. Advocacy and knowledge.
  4. Accreditation.
  5. Impact-Drives-Return business coaching.
  6. Strategic partnerships with impact investing, social enterprise, corporate social responsibility, and SME programs.
  7. Investment incentives for accredited companies.
  8. Financing for IB/IGB, mobilised with the impact investing industry.
  9. Impact monitoring and reporting.
  10. Africa-wide regional exchange on business cases and policy.

Each feature has its own page in this section. The secretariat has also prepared guidelines that clarify what IB/IGB is and how the support programs are implemented.
