Transforming CSR into IB/IGB Activities

Corporate social responsibility sits beside the business. An IB/IGB activity is the business.

IB/IGB differs from corporate social responsibility in scale, in systemic change, and in commercial viability. CSR, whether traditional or strategic, is not treated as an inclusive business line while it remains beside the core business.

Chart 4 describes the transformation that does count: an IB/IGB activity is CSR piloted as the core business line. The same standard rejects impact washing. A donation, a one-off project, or an indirect claim is not an accredited result.

The strategic program also builds partnerships with corporate social responsibility programs, alongside impact investing and social enterprise, where those programs can be pointed at IB/IGB companies. That partnership work sits under targeting IB and IGB in stakeholder programs.
