The Important Role of Business Association
The program is private sector led. AGI chairs the secretariat, and the accredited companies are recognised under the AGI business award.
The Association of Ghana Industries chairs the IB/IGB secretariat and leads it. The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industries co-chairs. That arrangement is deliberate: the initiative is private sector led and government owned.
Business associations also sit on the oversight arrangements and on the accreditation committee. The associations named among the institutional champions are AGI, GCYE, GNCCI, CAG and SEGh. Accredited IB/IGB companies are awarded under the AGI business award. They gain access to the investment and coaching incentives, and they are prioritised when financing support is allocated.
AGI signed the November 2024 memorandum with MoTAI and GIZ, and AGI is the institution now approaching new funders after the initial GIZ financing. The association’s own introduction is published at agighana.org/about-agi. Its role inside this initiative is summarised under About AGI.
